Jane’s Walks…a walking conversation between neighbours

Are you interested in learning more about your neighbourhood and sharing your story? Do you want to get more involved with your community and meet your neighbours?

Join Jane’s Walk!

Jane’s Walk is an annual series of free, volunteer-led community walking conversations inspired by urbanist Jane Jacobs. Over 100 cities have participated in Jane’s Walks from Calcutta to Canberra since 2007.

The walks are as varied as the people taking part, and they usually last about 90 minutes. Walk leaders offer their perspective along the route, and to encourage the public to weigh in. Through the simple act of walking and talking, the festival creates space for people to connect, share, and develop ideas about where their communities and cities are at and where they are headed. The Jane’s Walk Festival happens May 1-3, 2015. Continue reading

Neighbourhood Outdoor Rink Opens

A big note of thanks to Burlington Christian Fellowship Church who has installed an outdoor skating rink us all to enjoy!

The rink has been made possible by assistance from the City and other community volunteers.

The rink is free to use, and will be lit at night for evening skating.

The rink is not supervised, so you use at your own risk.

North BurLINKton Community Group will host a pop up play and hot chocolate event at the rink in the coming weeks…stay tuned for details!

In the mean time dig out your skates and get moving this winter!
