Flood Relief Fundraiser: North Burlington’s Got Talent!

flood reliefNorth BurLINKton Community Group and  MM Robinson High School are teaming up to present “North Burlington’s Got Talent”.

The event is a fundraiser for the Burlington Flood Relief Campaign through the Burlington Community Foundation.

This will be a showcase of local talent, including the MMR Drumline, MMR Improv Team, Shawn Brush the Krooked Cowboy, Ruth and Bob Urbasik from the Burlington Footnotes and MANY other North Burlington talents!

The evening will be a celebration of community, as neighbours help neighbours! Definitely an event you will not want to miss!

  • in the MM Robinson High School Theatre.
  • Cost is $5.

POP! Goes the Food

FreshFoodMarketThings are popping up in Burlington this harvest season!

Fresh food markets are popping up around Burlington in community spaces. With a strong focus on local produce, small food markets will be at local community spaces the week of September 9th. It will provide great quality nutritious food at an affordable price. If the roll out goes well, these pop up markets will run on a regular basis at community spaces and meals.

  • Tuesday September 9th – 6 pm at Open Doors located at St. Christopher’s
  • September 10th – 6 pm at North BurLINKton Diner Night Out at Glad Tiding
  • September 11th – noon At Open Doors located at St. Christophers Church – Depending on inventory

This  pilot program will run in collaboration with Burlington Lakeshore Rotary, Feeding Halton,  Halton Fresh Food Box, North BurLINKton, Glad Tidings Church and Open Doors @ St. Christopher’s.

The Pop Up Summer with North BurLINKton

The North BurLINKton Planning Team has been very busy planning a summer FULL of activity!

We are calling it the “Pop Up Summer” because you will be able to find North BurLINKton summer staff, volunteers and partners popping up around about our neighbourhoods with fun activities all summer long! There will be our regular Chill Zone sites in addition to Pop Up Play Sites, Pop Up Gardens, Teens events, two 55+ lunches and a two Women’s Events and maybe a few other special events thrown in for good measure! Chill Zone is a two hour drop-in Program for elementary school aged children. Activities include crafts and games and special theme based activities. There is no cost for the program. See the schedule for days and locations. Pop Up Gardens are small raised beds that are being planted in three locations in the North Burlington areas:

  • Walkers Field (2300 Walkers Line),
  • Tansley Untied Church (2111 Walkers Line),
  • Calvary Baptist Church ( 2458 St. Frances Dr.)

The food is grown by local community children and adults and is being shared with all that pass by. Stay tuned for pictures! Dinner Night Out continues through the summer on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month as usual. Dinner Night out takes place between 6 and 8 pm at Glad Tidings Church. Pop Up Play Sites are happening in a variety of City of Burlington Parks. Come meet us at the park and  meet Chill Zone staff and volunteers, Burlington Public Library staff, and Halton Regional Police Officers. We will have some crazy summer fun for you and information about what is happening around the City! See  below for the schedule so you can find us!
