Neighbourhood Outdoor Rink Opens

A big note of thanks to Burlington Christian Fellowship Church who has installed an outdoor skating rink us all to enjoy!

The rink has been made possible by assistance from the City and other community volunteers.

The rink is free to use, and will be lit at night for evening skating.

The rink is not supervised, so you use at your own risk.

North BurLINKton Community Group will host a pop up play and hot chocolate event at the rink in the coming weeks…stay tuned for details!

In the mean time dig out your skates and get moving this winter!

Mission

Together we create inclusive and friendly neighbourhoods that help people connect and increase their sense of belonging.

 Strategic Priorities

  1. Identify and support leadership development in each neighbourhood to create a network of neighbourhood leaders that can tap into community gifts and needs.
  2. Build on our existing events and programs to create a sense of place and belonging.
  3. Increase communication about our neighbourhoods and what is going on in them.
  4. Continue to make partnership development a priority.
  5. Strengthen North BurLINKton with a leadership/governance structure, branding and communication tools so that North BurLINKton is a reputable and recognized “go to” group in Burlington.

In January we will have a full report with action steps, timing and an evaluation plan. If you are interested in getting involved please let us know at rburke@cdhalton.ca

The volunteers and staff from North BurLINKton want to wish you and your families a wonderful holiday and hope to see you in the neighbourhood in 2015!

Fresh Food Market Video

This past fall the Lakeshore Rotary Club generously provided North BurLINKton and Open Doors with $1000 and allowed us to  come up with a made in Burlington food security idea. We partnered with The Halton Fresh Food Box, Food for Life and Feeding Halton to bring amazing local farm produce to Dinner Night Out and Open Doors Dinner and Seniors Lunch. The markets were VERY well received with people purchasing great fresh food, at great prices, from wonderful local farmers! Check out his video to learn more about the pilot project.
