• NBT Drop-in Grand Opening

    The North BurLINKton Teen (NBT) Project, a Youth Opportunities Funded initiative is pleased to announce that they haev partnered with Van Norman Homes at Bill Shackleton Place to secure a drop-in space for local teens. The NBT Leadership Team is hosting a grand opening event to show people the space and share their story about working together alongside of community partners to make a difference in their neighbourhoods.

    The event will include short speeches, food and a chance to try out some of the drop-in space activities.

  • Check out what’s new at ChillZone

    MOH_CHO_P18335_Burl_PNG_4ChillZone is North BurLINKton’s FREE after school program but with the support of Burlington’s Healthy Kids Community Challenge,  there are some new features this spring!

    The spring program will include:

    • extanded hours from 3 to 6 pm;
    • physical literacy activities;
    • cooking with the kids;
    • our continued partnership with o partner with ArtHouse – who provides us with great creative movement programming;
    • community gardening at both sites; and
    • a year end trip to the Royal Botanical Gardens for a BBQ and chance to complete the Adventure Challenge obstacle course!!

    How to find us:

    There is a supervised walking bus between Rolling Meadows Public School and the Tuesday program location at Calvary Baptist Church.  ChillZone meets at Tansley United Church in the loft on Thursdays.

    North BurLINKton ChillZone Program Staff 

    The North BurLINKton Chill Zone is a grassroots neighbourhood based children’s program. During the school year we provide participants access to healthy food, homework help, recreation, fun activities and crafts.  Staff and volunteers work together to create an understanding and open space for kids to experience a positive sense of community, provide a place to belong, and opportunities to develop new skills and try active and arts activities.

    There are 2 FREE weekly after-school programs in North Burlington. Each site is open from 3:00 to 6 pm and has qualified staff and great volunteers.

    This spring, with the support of Burlington’s Healthy Kids Community ChallengeChillZone will feature physical literacy activities, gardening and a food skill development component. We always have homework help and serve healthy snacks!

    Community Development Halton is looking to fill a short term contract position for the role of a program staff for North BurLINKton’s ChillZone program at its Tansley and Calvary locations.

    The program staff position includes the following responsibilities:

    • Assisting the program coordinator with program delivery;
    • Direct interaction with program participants, developing positive relationships, encouraging active and safe participation;
    • Assisting healthy snack preparation and snack serving; and
    • Program clean up at the end of program.

    Qualifications:

    • 1-2 years’ experience working with elementary school age children in a community recreation setting
    • First aid and CPR certified

    3 hours twice a week (total of 6 hours)

    2 month contract

    Closing Date: April 13th at 4 pm

  • March Break the Healthy Kids Way

    MOH_CHO_P18335_Burl_JPG_4North BurLINKton is pleased to be partnering with Burlington’s Healthy Kids Community Challenge (HKCC).

    HKCC is a Province of Ontario initiative that promotes healthy active living for children aged 0-12.

    HKCC has provided funding for North BurLINKton ChillZone to offer two full days of March Break programming. Each day will be full of active fun and healthy food!
